ACF to Back Northern Candidates in 2027, Criticises Tinubu’s Economic Policies

The Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) has vowed to support credible northern candidates in the 2027 elections to address the region’s mounting socio-economic challenges.

At its National Executive Council meeting in Kaduna, the ACF expressed deep concern over the deteriorating economic conditions under President Bola Tinubu’s administration, attributing the decline to poor policy implementation.

In a communiqué signed by ACF National Publicity Secretary Professor Tukur Muhammad-Baba, the forum criticised the federal government for appointing inexperienced individuals to critical positions, a practice it claimed undermines effective governance.

The forum also highlighted worsening insecurity, which it said had eroded public trust in the government’s ability to safeguard lives and property.

“Security is a fundamental responsibility of government, and doing anything less is a failure,” the communiqué read.

The ACF urged President Tinubu to re-evaluate his economic policies to alleviate the suffering of Nigerians, particularly in the North, which remains disproportionately affected by food insecurity, unemployment, and poverty.

“The time to think big is now. Reforms should not impoverish the same people they are meant to serve,” the communiqué stated, urging an immediate review of economic strategies.
