ADC Chairmen Close Ranks Behind David Mark Amid Party Rift

The Forum of State Chairmen of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has thrown its weight firmly behind the party’s national leadership under former Senate President, Senator David Mark, in a move aimed at quelling growing internal dissent.

Speaking in Lokoja, Kogi State, forum chairman Kingsley Temitope Ogga warned the public “to be wary of the antics” of party chairmen in Benue and Nasarawa States, accusing them of “parading themselves as representing the leadership forum.”

Ogga stressed that the only ADC-elected legislator, Hon. Leke Abejide, “remains suspended indefinitely from the party” and therefore has “no locus to act on behalf of the ADC.”

The statement alleged that Abejide has been “acting against the interest of the ADC” by making “efforts surreptitiously to hand the party over to the ruling APC” ahead of 2027.

The forum also accused the two state chairmen of “negative media propaganda” against the party’s legitimate leadership.

“We… reaffirm our support in the leadership of the party as led by Senator David Mark,” Ogga declared, adding that the suspension of Abejide would stand “until the party decides otherwise.”

He claimed the rebel elements had attempted to usurp party structures without proper authorisation, prompting decisive action.

The statement comes amid speculation that internal power struggles could weaken the ADC ahead of the next general election.

However, the forum insists it remains united, declaring itself “solidly behind the new NWC” and dismissing the rebels as politically irrelevant.
