ADC slams APC’s “No vacancy in Aso Rock” claim as arrogant

From: Kabiru Birnin Kudu

The African Democratic Congress has fired back sharply at remarks by APC National Chairman Professor Nentawe Yilwatda that there will be “no vacancy in Aso Rock” in 2027, denouncing the comment as presumptuous and undemocratic.

Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, ADC’s National Publicity Secretary, insisted that the Nigerian presidency “is not a hereditary office, but a mandate that must be earned and renewed through performance and public trust.”

He accused the APC of fostering “an arrogant mindset” that “appears to overlook the right of Nigerian people to choose.”

The opposition party warned that such talk “could further suggest that people’s votes would not count,” a suggestion he described as deeply offensive.

Abdullahi was especially scathing when he observed that the APC seems “afraid” of facing the electorate in 2027 and warned that “every incumbent must renew its mandate.”

He lambasted the ruling party’s economic record, pointing to rising food prices, insecurity, and a battered naira as growing blots on its reputation.

With such a stinging rebuttal, the ADC has made it clear: come 2027, APC “must reapply” and be judged properly.
