An official of the Kano State Hisbah Command responsible for the Yankaba area of Kano city, Malam Aliyu Usman, has denounced a voice recording circulating on social media, which falsely claims that Hon. Auwal Sankara admitted to having an illicit affair with a married woman.
Usman described the audio as fake.
In clarifying the matter, Malam Aliyu Usman explained that they received a complaint from the woman’s husband.
After conducting an investigation, they found the woman inside a car, while Hon. Auwal Sankara was seen walking towards the house’s gate with the gateman.
“I am a junior officer; I have no right to talk, reveal, or give a report to any person regarding our operations, except our superior, Malam Mujahid. So, I wonder where the audio clip credited to me came from,” Usman stated.
Commenting on the issue, the woman’s lawyer, Barrister Rabiu Shuaibu Abdullahi, said the case has been taken to court, where his client is the second defendant.
Barrister Rabiu further explained that the court has directed the Inspector General of Police to investigate the matter, and they are satisfied with the court’s decision.
The defence counsel also revealed that the couple had been experiencing domestic issues for years, to the extent that the husband, the complainant, had been using a gun to intimidate his wife during disputes.
“My client runs a restaurant at Lamido Crescent, which is well-known. People regularly place orders for food, but due to the family crisis, her husband has been tracking her movements with a tracker, seemingly for no reason other than to harass her,” Barrister Abdullahi stated.
The case is currently under investigation by the Kano State Criminal Investigation Department (CID), while the suspended Commissioner, Hon. Auwal Dalladi Sankara, has vowed to see the case through to its conclusion to clear his name and that of his family.
