FG to launch cattle breeding centres across Nigeria’s six regions

In a bold move to bolster Nigeria’s livestock sector, the Federal Government has revealed plans to set up cattle breeding centres in all six regions of the country.

The announcement was made by Dr. Aliyu Sabi Abdullahi, Minister of State for Agriculture, during the Citizens-Government engagement and mid-term assessment of the Tinubu administration in Kaduna.

He underlined that “the synergy and collaboration of the Ministries of Agriculture, Environment, Water Resources, Livestock Development, and the Blue Economy are imperative for delivering on the Renewed Hope Agenda.”

The scheme is expected to boost cattle production and modernise husbandry nationwide, addressing regional imbalances in livestock development.

Attendees at the gathering hailed the initiative as long overdue and potentially transformative for rural economies.

Critics, however, will be closely monitoring the implementation phase to ensure that funds are allocated and regional equity is maintained.

If managed properly, the breeding centres could usher in a new era of agricultural productivity across Nigeria.
