Governor Namadi Establishes Committee To Investigate Allegations Against Commissioner Auwal Sankara

The Jigawa State Government has constituted an investigative committee to examine allegations against the State Commissioner for Special Duties, Auwal Danladi Sankara.

This decision follows media reports linking the commissioner to a controversial incident recently overseen by the Kano State Hisbah Board.

In a statement released on 19 October 2024, the Secretary to the Jigawa State Government, Malam Bala Ibrahim, expressed concern over the situation, highlighting the negative impact the allegations have had on the state’s image.

“The reports lead to significant embarrassment and degradation to the reputation of the State Government,” the statement reads.

Consequently, the government felt compelled to establish a committee to investigate the matter and verify the credibility of the accusations.

Governor Umar Namadi has appointed Malam Bala Ibrahim to chair the committee, which has been given two weeks to deliver its findings.

The committee is composed of the following members:

  • Honourable Commissioner for Information, Youth, Sports, and Culture
  • Honourable Commissioner for Basic Education, Lawal Yunusa Danzomo
  • Special Adviser on Security Matters
  • Principal Private Secretary to the Governor, who will serve as the committee’s Secretary

Malam Bala Ibrahim noted that the creation of this committee demonstrates the state government’s commitment to upholding transparency and accountability, especially when dealing with issues that could undermine its integrity.

The allegations against Sankara have garnered significant public and political attention.

The upcoming investigation is expected to shed light on the situation, providing clarity to both the public and government officials.

The committee’s report is anticipated within the next two weeks, following a thorough investigation.
