Former Governor of Ekiti State, Kayode Fayemi, has tendered an apology to Nigerians over the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC)’s failure to fully achieve its promises since assuming power.
Speaking during an interview on Channels Television on Thursday evening, Fayemi admitted that the party had not delivered on all its commitments.
“We must apologise to the Nigerian people. We have not succeeded in achieving everything we promised to Nigerian people,” he said.
He, however, attributed the unfulfilled promises not to incompetence but to structural impediments that made governance more challenging.
“Clearly, we haven’t done enough to make life abundant for the Nigerian people. And for that, I clearly would not hesitate to apologise to the Nigerian people for that. We can do a lot more,” he added.
The APC took over power from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in 2015, riding on the mantra of change with promises to curb corruption, tackle insecurity, and improve the economy.
