Jigawa Anti-Corruption Agency Seeks EFCC Partnership

The Jigawa State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission (PCACC) has sought collaboration with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to enhance its investigative capacity and anti-corruption efforts.

During a courtesy visit to the EFCC headquarters in Abuja on Thursday, PCACC Chairman Salisu Abdu outlined areas of potential collaboration, including investigations, information sharing, and training.

“We are really new and don’t have the expertise to investigate anti-corruption cases. We need the opportunity to learn how to conduct effective investigations,” Abdu stated.

He also highlighted the need for EFCC’s assistance in administrative development and infrastructure for the newly established agency in Jigawa State.

In response, EFCC Chairman Ola Olukoyede welcomed the initiative, stating that strengthening anti-corruption efforts at the state level would ease the burden on the federal agency.

“If you at the state level can monitor government spending and handle the MDAs effectively, it will make our work easier at the federal level,” Olukoyede said.

He pledged EFCC’s support and urged the Jigawa anti-graft body to maintain high ethical standards.

“The moment you start compromising your ethics, it’s only a matter of time before they get at you. Let your conscience be clear towards men, towards God, and towards the mandate you have been given,” he advised.

Olukoyede further encouraged the PCACC to help Jigawa State boost its internally generated revenue by blocking financial leakages within government ministries and agencies.
