Jigawa APC Youth Group Demands Defence Minister Badaru’s Removal

The All Progressives Congress (APC) Youth Group in Jigawa State has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to reconsider the appointment of Defence Minister Badaru Abubakar, citing dissatisfaction with his performance and allegations of disloyalty to the party.

Speaking to journalists and supporters in Dutse, the state capital, on Friday, the group’s coordinator, Ahmad Magaji Bashir, accused the minister of undermining the APC’s efforts in the state and tarnishing its reputation.

“We are deeply disappointed with Badaru’s failure to support the party’s agenda in Jigawa. His actions appear to align more with the opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP), rather than advancing the interests of the APC,” Bashir said.

The group outlined several grievances, including Badaru’s alleged lack of support for APC members in Jigawa and his perceived bias towards PDP stakeholders.

They also highlighted reports that APC billboards featuring President Tinubu and Vice President Shettima had been vandalised, alleging Badaru’s involvement in the incidents.

“We are gravely concerned about the minister’s lack of commitment to the principles and objectives of the APC. His actions seem to contradict the party’s goals in Jigawa and Nigeria as a whole,” Bashir added.

The group expressed fears that Badaru’s continued role in Tinubu’s administration could damage the APC’s standing in Jigawa and nationwide.

They called on the president to take immediate action to address the situation.

“We urge President Tinubu to reconsider Badaru’s appointment as Defence Minister. Allowing him to continue in this role could jeopardise the party’s unity and efforts to deliver on its promises,” the group stated.

While reaffirming their support for President Tinubu’s government, the youth group stressed the need for strong and effective leadership within the APC to restore confidence and cohesion among party members in Jigawa.

“We remain steadfast in our commitment to the Tinubu administration but insist on the importance of robust leadership to foster unity and progress within the APC,” the statement concluded.
