After six months of relegation, the Jigawa Golden Star football team has been reconstituted and returned to the field for training last Monday.
This was revealed in a statement signed by the Public Relations Officer of Jigawa Golden Star, Comrade Ibrahim Isyaku, and made available to journalists.
The club’s resumption follows the intervention of the state governor, Malam Umar Namadi, through the Commissioner for Information, Sports, and Culture, Sagir Muhammad, who facilitated the formation of a new management team for the club.
“The new management of Jigawa Golden Star has graciously resumed training with immediate effect on Monday, 21/10/24, and has directed old players to report back,” the statement said.
It also assured that the management is committed to ensuring fairness in the selection of players, emphasizing that selection will be based on “quality, credibility, and competency.”
The statement urged all players to demonstrate talent, good character, and discipline to achieve the goal of elevating the state’s football team to greater heights.
