Jigawa Swears In 19 New Sharia Court Judges

The Jigawa State Judiciary has sworn in 19 newly appointed Sharia Court Judges (Alkalis) in a ceremony held at the Judicial Complex in Dutse.

The event was attended by Hon. Judges, Kadis, Magistrates, Sharia Court Judges, judicial staff, well-wishers, and families of the appointees.

The newly appointed Alkalis have undergone rigorous training and selection processes, ensuring their deep understanding of Islamic law and commitment to justice.

They are expected to uphold the principles of Sharia and serve communities at the grassroots level with fairness and integrity.

Chief Judge and Chairman of the Judicial Service Commission, Hon. Justice Umar M. Sadiq, urged the judges to remain committed to justice and integrity, warning them against corruption.

“This significant event marks a major milestone in our efforts to uphold justice, integrity, and the rule of law,” Justice Sadiq stated.

Grand Kadi, Hon. Kadi Sani Salihu, also reminded the appointees of their responsibility to remain law-abiding and uphold the principles of Islamic Sharia.

The ceremony saw the attendance of key judiciary officials, including Chief Registrar of the High Court Aisha Ahmed Babura, Chief Registrar of the Sharia Court of Appeal Barr. Muttaqa Usman, and other senior judicial officers.

The swearing-in of the new Alkalis is seen as a significant step towards strengthening the Sharia court system and ensuring access to justice for all members of the community.
