The Youth Assembly of Nigeria, Jigawa State Chapter, has extended its deepest condolences to the families of those who lost their lives and offered heartfelt sympathy to the injured following the tragic fire outbreak and subsequent oil tanker explosion that occurred in Majia, Taura Local Government Area, Jigawa State, on October 16th, 2024.
In a statement signed by the Speaker, Haruna Isah, the Youth Assembly expressed its profound sorrow over the incident.
“We stand with you in this difficult time and share in your grief,” Isah said, addressing the victims’ families.
He emphasized that the Assembly understands the pain and suffering caused by the disaster and assured that they are committed to providing support to the affected communities in every possible way.
The Youth Assembly commended the swift response of both state and federal governments, as well as the efforts of security personnel, nurses, doctors, and other health workers who risked their lives to save others.
“We are grateful for the swift response… and we commend the efforts of security personnel, nurses, doctors, and other health workers who risked their lives to save others and alleviate the suffering of the victims,” the statement read.
In addition to physical care, the Assembly urged health professionals to offer psychological support to the families to prevent potential Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).
“We need to recognize that the impact of such a disaster extends beyond the physical wounds, and we must provide all possible support to help families heal emotionally as well,” Isah added.
The Assembly reassured the people of Taura LGA and Jigawa State that they remain steadfast in their prayers and support, asking for divine comfort during this difficult period.
“We will continue to pray for you and ask for God’s grace and comfort to surround you during this dark moment.”
The statement concluded with prayers for the souls of the departed and a wish for quick recovery for the wounded.
