The Jigawa Social Protection Platform (JISOP), a coalition of Civil Society Organisations, media representatives, academics, ethnic minorities, and Persons with Disabilities (PWDs), has expressed its heartfelt condolences to the government and people of Jigawa State following the recent tragic fuel tanker explosion in Majiya Town, Taura Local Government Area.
In a statement signed by its chairman, Comrade Shu’aibu Musa Kafin-Gana, and made available to journalists, JISOP conveyed their deep sorrow over the devastating incident, which occurred on Tuesday night.
The explosion claimed the lives of more than 150 people and left over 100 others injured.
The platform extended its sympathy to the families and relatives of the victims, as well as the entire populace of Jigawa State.
“JISOP is deeply saddened by the tragic fuel tanker explosion that claimed precious lives, mostly youths, and left many injured. Our hearts go out to the people of Jigawa State during this difficult time. We pray that the souls of the departed rest in peace, and may Almighty God grant their families the strength and fortitude to bear this irreparable loss,” the statement read.
