Joy as Jigawa Police Commissioner Decorates 510 Newly Promoted Officers in Colourful Ceremony

The Jigawa State Police Headquarters in Dutse was awash with joy and celebration on Friday as the Commissioner of Police, CP Dahiru Muhammad, presided over the decoration of 510 newly promoted officers in a grand ceremony that drew family and friends.

Leading the list of honourees was DCP Olufemi Akinola, formerly the Assistant Commissioner of Police and outgoing Commanding Officer of 35PMF Dutse, whose elevation to Deputy Commissioner of Police was met with loud applause.

Other senior officers promoted to the rank of Assistant Commissioner of Police included CSP Aminu Sulaiman, CSP Baba Kura Haruna, and CSP Ahmed H. Umar, reflecting what the Commissioner described as a “reward for unwavering commitment to duty.”

Also decorated were 23 Inspectors promoted to Assistant Superintendents, 246 Sergeants elevated to Inspectors, and 236 Corporals who became Sergeants, with CP Muhammad reminding all, “Promotion comes with higher responsibility – discipline, loyalty, and dedication must be your watchwords.”

In a speech on behalf of the promotees, DCP Akinola expressed deep gratitude to the Police Service Commission, the Inspector-General of Police, and the Command’s leadership, pledging, “We shall continue to serve with greater commitment, integrity, and professionalism.”

Emotional scenes unfolded as proud relatives embraced their loved ones, took photographs, and danced in honour of the occasion, describing the promotions as “long overdue and richly deserved.”

The police spokesman, SP Shi’isu Lawan Adam, who stated on behalf of the Command, said the event was not just a formality but a reinforcement of morale and service readiness across ranks.
