Katsina Approves Solar-Powered Vehicles, Plans 20-Storey Building In Lagos

The Katsina State Executive Council, chaired by Governor Dikko Radda, has approved the bulk purchase of electric and solar-powered vehicles and tricycles under the state’s public transportation programme.

The decision, announced after the council’s meeting on Thursday at the Government House, Katsina, aims to provide subsidised transport fares for residents amid rising petroleum costs while creating employment opportunities for the state’s youth.

“We have identified IRS, a renowned Kano-based company, and another supplier as the approved vendors for this transformative initiative,” said Aisha Aminu, Director General of the Katsina State Enterprise Development Agency.

In a separate development, the council also approved the construction of a 20-storey residential building on the state government’s property in Victoria Island, Lagos.

Special Adviser to the Governor on Intergovernmental, Development Partners and Liaison Services, Hadiza Maikudi, stated that the landmark project, scheduled for completion within 24 months, represents a strategic investment to boost the state’s revenue base.
