MAJIYA CATACLYSM: Ocitancy, Benightedness Or Cormorant?

By Ahmed Ilallah

The Majiya cataclysm has surpassed everyone’s expectations; it is the most significant state-wide catestrophy in history of Jigawa State.

The fuel tanker accident claimed 150 lives so far, the death toll may increase, and about 200 people are hospitalized.

The people of Majiya, Taura, and Jigawa State as a whole are in mourning for the loss of their brothers and sisters.  May peace be upon their soul.

However, the question we should really be asking is: What caused this catastrophic, or even the accident itself?

Does the government and driving stakeholders’ negligence, or oscitancy, play a role in this kind of incident?

Road accidents are now a significant factor in the deaths of innocent Nigerians.

The appropriate system for efficiently and safely transporting this kind of produce must be provided by the government.

The towns and villages near the highways should likewise be handled carefully by the authorities.

The greed of our people. Are they being led to this danger by their needs or poverty? Why do they put their lives in danger just to retrieve the drowned gasoline in these perilous circumstances?

People in Nigeria are aware of this type of therapy, and this type of accident is not new. Why did the Majiyan people re-engage in this trauma that claimed so many lives?

If ignorance is the cause, the government should emphasize its outreach and education regarding the general safety system.  The majors that people should choose in the event of a similar incident should be made clear to them.

We are praying for these people.

However, ocitancy, benightedness, and cormorant are the causes of this tragedy.
