The Governor of Jigawa State, Mallam Umar Namadi, has emphasised the importance of integrity and responsible governance during a two-day training workshop for newly elected local government officials.
The workshop, held at the Jigawa State Management Development Institute (MDI), aimed to equip the new leaders with essential skills and knowledge to effectively serve their communities.
Represented by the Deputy Governor, Engr. Aminu Usman Gumel, Governor Namadi urged the newly elected officials to prioritise the welfare of their constituents, stressing the need for transparency and accountability in managing public resources.
“You must learn to uphold the trust bestowed upon you by the people. Your commitment to integrity will lay the foundation for successful governance in your localities,” he stated.
In his address, the Governor highlighted the necessity for the new leaders to engage actively in developmental projects, aligning their initiatives with the twelve-point agenda of the present administration.
He called upon them to focus on implementing strategies that will foster economic growth and improve living standards for residents.
The workshop, organised by the state’s Ministry for Local Government Affairs, witnessed the participation of state commissioners, special advisers, and staff from the local government monitoring agencies.

This training comes in the wake of the recent local government elections held in Jigawa, which have resulted in a fresh wave of leadership across the state’s 27 local councils.
