The New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) has publicly disowned its former presidential candidate, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, apologised to President Bola Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC) over recent verbal attacks.
In a statement issued in Lagos, National Publicity Secretary Dr Oginni Olaposi clarified that Kwankwaso no longer represents the NNPP following the termination of the party’s agreement with the Kwankwasiya Movement.
“We hereby tender an unreserved apology to President Tinubu and the entire APC family, led by Dr Abdullahi Ganduje, for the unwarranted insults, abuse, and maligning statements issued by Kwankwaso,” Olaposi said.

He warned the former Kano State governor to stop using the NNPP’s name for political attacks, adding, “He was expelled long ago and should look inwards rather than blame others if his followers are now joining the APC.”
The party further stated that under Dr Boniface Aniebonam, its leadership is focused on constructive national development and not “reckless political attacks.”
Olaposi insisted that Kwankwaso’s recent criticisms of President Tinubu reflect personal opinions, not the NNPP’s position.
“Kwankwaso is the leader of the Kwankwasiya Movement, not the NNPP,” he said.
The party also cited several court rulings, including an Abuja High Court judgment on April 3, that affirmed Kwankwaso’s expulsion.
