The Director-General of the National Orientation Agency, Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu, has sent a congratulatory letter to Grammy-nominated artist David Adedeji Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, applauding his achievements and nationalistic remarks during a recent interview on CKO Channel.
In the interview, Davido advised tourists not to form opinions based on fear, remarking: “Everywhere is dangerous! The Congo is dangerous, Benin is dangerous, Paris is dangerous, everywhere is dangerous. Even in Atlanta, you could go somewhere and get shot, so that makes it dangerous.”
Issa-Onilu praised Davido for promoting Nigeria’s image positively and urged him to continue using his platform to “project the best of us.”

The NOA noted that his stance resonates with its broader campaign to reposition Nigeria’s global image through its “National Identity Project” and the proposed National Values Charter.
“It is true that we need to tell our own positive stories,” the letter read, reinforcing the need to shape global and domestic perceptions of Nigeria through truth and pride.
The letter also cited the singer’s global success as proof of Nigeria’s potential in the creative industry.
Issa-Onilu encouraged Davido to remain a model for young Nigerians and a cultural ambassador.
“We count on you,” he wrote, “while we work to redress the negativities in public and social life.”
The Agency described the letter as part of its strategy to collaborate with influential Nigerians in shaping a resilient and respected national image.
