NSCDC Murder Suspect Dies in Dramatic Escape Bid After Arrest for Brutal Market Day Killing

From: Mika’il Tsoho, Dutse

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has confirmed the arrest of a 45-year-old man, Salisu Muhd, in connection with the brutal killing of its officer, Bashir Adamu Jibrin, during a market day in Shuwarin, Kiyawa Local Government Area of Jigawa State.

In a statement issued in Dutse by ASC Badaruddeen Tijjani, the command revealed that Jibrin had “lost his life in the course of executing a lawful arrest” after Muhd allegedly struck him on the head with a stone.

The suspect was apprehended on 7 August 2025 at his home in Shuwarin, but events took a dramatic turn when, while being transported to the NSCDC headquarters in Dutse, he leapt from the moving security van “with an intention to escape from lawful custody.”

According to the statement, the failed escape left him with serious injuries, and officers immediately rushed him to Dutse General Hospital for treatment.

However, upon arrival, a doctor pronounced him dead, prompting his relatives to demand a second opinion from Sambo Hospital Limited in Dutse.

The medical report there concluded that he died “in his effort to escape while the vehicle was on high speed.”

Authorities have since reiterated their commitment to pursuing justice for the slain officer, with the NSCDC vowing to ensure “no one involved in this inhumane killing will go unpunished.”
