Only 11 Make the Cut: Federal Government Shortlists Permanent Secretary Candidates

The Office of the Head of Civil Service of the Federation has advanced 11 candidates to the final stage of the permanent secretary selection process, a memo obtained by journalists reveals.

The memo, signed by Dr Emmanuel Meribole, disclosed that 11 of the 19 directors who passed the second stage of the examination will proceed to the oral interview.

This is part of an ongoing process to fill permanent secretary vacancies in eight states.

Earlier in October, The PUNCH exclusively reported that the recruitment was initiated with 38 directors participating in the first stage of the examination.

Only 19 advanced to the second round, with 11 finally making it to the third stage.

A separate memo signed by the Head of Civil Service, Didi Walson-Jack, had barred directors under disciplinary procedures from applying, emphasising the rigorous standards of the process.

President Bola Tinubu approved the exercise, and the successful candidates will be announced at its conclusion.
