Salihu Lukman, former National Vice Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has voiced his disillusionment with President Bola Tinubu’s leadership, stating that he no longer believes Tinubu can achieve anything of significance before May 2027.
Appearing on Channels Television’s Inside Sources with Laolu Akande, Lukman explained that his disappointment stems from the President’s governance style, which he believes differs drastically from how Tinubu ran Lagos State between 1999 and 2007.
Lukman dismissed any hopes of remarkable progress before the next election, describing such expectations as mere fantasy, and lamented that Tinubu’s failure has made former President Muhammadu Buhari appear more competent in comparison.
Reflecting on his own political journey, Lukman revealed that he withdrew his support for Tinubu in July 2023, after realizing that the President had isolated himself even within his own party.
He criticized the APC for sacrificing its values and urged the formation of a new coalition built on solid principles, separate from the failures of the ruling party.
Lukman stressed that while the country can be fixed in the lifetime of current Nigerians, it requires a profound change in leadership and political approach, starting with the creation of a new and inclusive coalition.
