In a significant cabinet reshuffle, President Bola Tinubu has dismissed six Ministers from his administration and submitted seven new ministerial nominees to the National Assembly for confirmation.
This move follows Tinubu’s pledge to reform his cabinet and enhance governance efficiency.
The ministers relieved of their duties include Professor Tahir Mamman, Minister of Education; Uju Kennedy Ohanenye, Minister of Women Affairs; Mohammed Gwarzo, Minister of State for Housing; Jamila Ibrahim, Minister of Youth Development; Lola Ade-John, Minister of Tourism; and Betta Edu, the suspended Minister of Humanitarian Affairs.
Their dismissal marks a notable shift in the President’s leadership team as he seeks to re-align his administration with evolving national priorities.
Among the seven nominees presented to the National Assembly is Mrs. Bianca Ojukwu, widow of the late Biafran leader, Dim Odumegwu Ojukwu, signalling Tinubu’s intent to bring more prominent figures into his government.
The list of nominees was disclosed by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, during a press briefing following the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting held at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
In addition to the nominations, Onanuga confirmed that ten Ministers from the existing cabinet have been reassigned new portfolios, suggesting a broader restructuring within Tinubu’s government.
This reshuffle comes amid growing expectations for greater performance from Tinubu’s administration as it seeks to address pressing national issues and implement key reforms across various sectors.
