President Bola Tinubu has dismissed speculations of conflicts with state governors over local government autonomy, calling for collaboration to drive grassroots development.
“There were gossips that we had disagreements on local government autonomy. No…Nobody wants to take them away from you, but we need collaboration,” Tinubu stated during a New Year meeting with governors at his Lagos residence.
Tinubu emphasised the critical role of state governors in national development, urging them to focus on agriculture and economic stability.
He also highlighted the importance of local government effectiveness in addressing grassroots challenges.
“You are the most important link to Nigeria’s prosperity and development. Together, we will build a nation we are all proud of,” the President said.
Governor Abdulrahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara State praised Tinubu’s leadership, citing significant progress in agriculture and state-level projects, adding, “We are overriding inflation and restructuring the economy for long-term growth.”
