The Jigawa State Chapter of the Youth Assembly of Nigeria (YAN) has extended hearty congratulations to Rt. Hon. Famiyubo Oluwasegun, affectionately known as “Captain,” and Comrade Usman Usman Umar on their recent appointments as the new Speaker of YAN and National Ambassador, respectively.
The leadership team’s ascent has sparked a wave of optimism within the chapter, with members expressing high expectations for a dynamic era of growth and empowerment under the new national leadership.
In a statement issued by Jigawa State’s YAN Speaker, Haruna Isah, the chapter expressed confidence in the newly elected national leaders.
“We are confident that their knowledge, experience, and passion for youth development will lead the organisation to greater heights,” Isah remarked.

This leadership transition comes at a pivotal time for YAN as it seeks to bolster youth involvement in critical areas of Nigeria’s development, aligning with the broader goals of community-based and national progress.
Rt. Hon. Oluwasegun brings a wealth of experience to his role as Speaker of YAN, having established himself as a devoted advocate for youth empowerment and societal progress.
Meanwhile, Comrade Umar, the new National Ambassador, is widely recognised for his contributions to the welfare of young Nigerians, particularly in promoting access to opportunities that support personal and professional growth.
The statement also acknowledged the invaluable contributions of Hon. Ibrahim Garba Ibrahim, Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Youth Affairs, whose guidance played a significant role during the YAN convention held in Abuja.
“We also express our gratitude to Hon. Ibrahim Garba Ibrahim for his unwavering commitment, support, and contributions during the convention period,” Isah noted, adding that Ibrahim’s involvement served as both a morale booster and an inspiration to YAN members in attendance.
Ibrahim’s influence in youth circles has been notable, often positioning him as a bridge between government policies and youth interests in Jigawa State.
As the new national leaders take up their roles, there is renewed hope that YAN will continue to build on its legacy of empowering young Nigerians across the country.
Jigawa State’s chapter has historically been an active participant in YAN’s mission, contributing members to regional and national initiatives.
In recent years, YAN has rolled out multiple programmes aimed at addressing key issues like youth unemployment, educational access, and the promotion of entrepreneurial skills among young people.
Isah further stressed the importance of collaboration as YAN Jigawa looks forward to a productive partnership under the new leadership.
“We thank everyone for their support and look forward to a fruitful working relationship under the new YAN leadership to achieve our collective goals of youth empowerment, development, and progress in Nigeria,” he said.
This sentiment underscores the chapter’s commitment to playing an active role in YAN’s nationwide initiatives, which have included vocational training sessions, advocacy for policy reforms, and campaigns that address pressing social issues impacting youth.
YAN has been a prominent voice for Nigerian youth since its inception, aiming to foster civic responsibility and leadership skills in young citizens across the nation.
The recent convention, a biennial gathering that attracts young leaders from across Nigeria, provided a platform for robust discussions on youth challenges and the formulation of strategies aimed at securing a prosperous future for upcoming generations.
The new national leaders have not only a mandate to serve but a legacy to uphold.
Former YAN leaders have laid a strong foundation, notably through engagements with government officials, collaborations with non-governmental organisations, and initiatives that promote active youth participation in governance and community service.
As the Jigawa State Chapter of YAN celebrates this new era, members are optimistic that Oluwasegun and Umar will continue to prioritise the needs of Nigerian youth, advocating for policies that improve social welfare, expand educational opportunities, and create a sustainable future.
