Youth Assembly of Nigeria, Pays Courtesy Visit to Dr Saifullahi Umar

In a bid to strengthen youth empowerment in agriculture, the Jigawa State Chapter of the Youth Assembly of Nigeria (YAN) paid a courtesy visit to Dr Saifullahi Umar, Technical Adviser on Agriculture to the Jigawa State Government.

The visit, held at his office, served as an opportunity for the assembly to familiarise itself with Dr. Umar and establish a partnership aimed at empowering the youth through the rehabilitation and improvement of agricultural skills acquisition centres across the state. 

During the visit, the assembly commended Dr Umar for his unwavering commitment to youth empowerment and his exemplary role as an ambassador of youth involvement in good governance.

“We are proud of your dedication and your efforts in promoting inclusive agricultural development in Jigawa State,” said Rt Hon Haruna Isah, the Speaker of the Youth Assembly and representative of Birnin Kudu Local Government Area.

The assembly also announced its decision to confer on Dr. Umar the honorary title of Patron of the Jigawa Chapter of YAN, recognising his significant contributions to youth-oriented agricultural initiatives. 

In his remarks, the Deputy Speaker, Hon Haruna Adamu Maje, representing Auyo Local Government, emphasised the assembly’s resolve to monitor all agricultural empowerment activities to ensure justice, fairness, and equity in their implementation.

He further urged Dr Umar to intensify his efforts in creating more opportunities for the youth, stating, “While we commend your achievements so far, we challenge you to do even more for the agricultural sector and the youth who depend on it.” 

The nine-member committee led by Rt Hon Haruna Isah includes notable members such as Hon Kamilu Musa Maigoro, the Majority Leader representing Gwaram; Hon Bashir Aliyu Kwaimawa, the Deputy Clerk representing Dutse; and other committed representatives from various local government areas in Jigawa State. 

Dr Umar expressed his gratitude to the assembly for the recognition and pledged to continue working towards sustainable agricultural development and youth empowerment in Jigawa State. 

The visit marks a significant step in fostering collaboration between government officials and youth representatives, setting a precedent for inclusive and impactful governance in Jigawa State.
